Future Losses

The book

The site handles the paperwork. The book is for the part a web page cannot help with: nine o'clock on a Tuesday, when there is nothing to do with the urge.

What the site does

Discrete tasks with a beginning and an end. Get on the self-exclusion list. Switch on the bank block. Close the account for good. Stop the texts. Each one is finishable in an afternoon, each one keeps working afterwards, and all of it is free and complete here. Nothing useful has been held back to sell you something.

What a page cannot do

A page cannot sit with you through the first ninety days. It cannot tell you what to do with a Tuesday evening that used to be spent betting, or what the second month feels like compared to the first, or what to do the morning after a slip so that it stays one bet rather than becoming three months.

That is what the book covers: the first ninety days, handling urges as they arrive, what a lapse actually means and how to carry on from it, and rebuilding the parts of life that the gambling was occupying.

The book is not on sale yet, and there is no link here because there is nothing honest to link to. When there is, it will appear here and at the end of the guides, and nowhere else. No banner across the site.

In the meantime

The free material is the better place to start regardless. If you have not done it yet, the hour that moves the needle furthest is this one.

The first hour

And if what you need tonight is a person rather than a page, the helpline at the top is free, confidential, answers at any hour, and has heard it all before.
