Self-exclusion, state by state
Self-exclusion is the one step that keeps working after the motivation that made you start has gone. It is a list the operators are required to check, not a promise you make to yourself.
Every state runs its own, and they differ far more than anyone expects. Some cover online betting and some do not. Some run several separate lists, so banning yourself from one leaves the others open. Some end by themselves on a date you will have forgotten. A few cannot be undone at all.

No state by that name here yet. The helpline at the top of this page covers every state and can tell you today.
All fifty states are here. Washington DC and the territories are not, yet. Nor is every detail: eleven states run no scheme of their own, and where a regulator publishes nothing on a question, the page says so and tells you who to ask rather than guessing at it.
