Editorial policy
What this site will publish, what it will not, and why. Written down so it can be held to.
Every fact carries its source and its date
Each individual claim on this site records the official page it was read from and the day someone read it. Not the page as a whole: the field. A page stamped "last checked March" where only three of eight facts were actually confirmed is a small lie, and it is found by the one reader who needed the fourth.
Sources are primary only: the gaming commission's own page, the bank's own help centre, the operator's own terms. Secondary coverage in this field is stale often enough to be useless, and we do not repeat it.
Where something could not be confirmed, the page says so and tells you who to ask. It is never left blank and never filled with a plausible guess. An empty cell under "covers online betting" reads as "no" to someone skimming, and that is how a person comes to believe they are protected when they are not.
Whose stories appear here
Only people who have publicly told their own story about stopping, in their own words, with the intention of it being public. Consented testimony, nothing else.
Someone whose gambling became public through a court case, a prosecution or a piece of reporting has not agreed to be a case study on a recovery site. We do not assemble profiles of people from their worst months.
Nobody who is currently paid by gambling
Anyone producing gambling content or holding a gambling sponsorship is excluded from this site entirely. No names, no figures, no commentary on their wins or their losses, no analysis of their sessions.
This is not a judgement about them, and there is plenty of that content elsewhere. It is that unfollowing promotional gambling content is itself one of the steps in stopping, and a site that reproduces it is working against its own readers. If someone featured here later returns to gambling content or takes a gambling sponsorship, their feature comes down.
Numbers about the system, never about a person
House edge, hold rates, how much of the industry's revenue comes from a small fraction of players, total annual losses: all useful, all welcome. One individual's win or loss figure is not, however famous they are and however freely they published it. The test is whether a number describes the machinery or a human being.
No gambling imagery
No cards, chips, dice, reels, odds boards, betting slips, or screenshots of wins. Those are cues, and the readers of this site are people working hard not to respond to cues. Where a recovery interview is embedded, it is through a privacy-preserving embed, from the person's own channel, with our own framing above it, and we keep a record of what was embedded and when so dead and changed links get caught.
Corrections, not comments
There is a correction form and there is no comment section.
A comment section on a site like this becomes two things very quickly: people describing their gambling in detail, which is a cue for every other reader, and a place for affiliate spam and tips on getting around blocks. The correction form gets us the same benefit, which is readers telling us when something has changed, with none of that.
What this site is not
It is not treatment, and not medical or financial advice. It is a set of instructions for things you can do yourself. Treatment exists, it works for many people, and the helpline at the top of every page will point you to it.
On relapse: a single bet is information, not a verdict, and the target stays at zero. We will not publish anything implying that one slip has ruined an attempt, because that belief is what turns one bet into three months of gambling.
Privacy
No third-party analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising scripts, no fonts or images loaded from anyone else's server. Some readers are keeping this private from the people they live with, and a request to another company is a record of the visit. Nothing you do on this site is legible to anyone else.
Money
We do not sell, and are not paid to recommend, any blocking software, bank, treatment provider or operator. Where a product is named, including where it is named favourably, no money changes hands. There is a paid book, written by us, linked at the end of pages where it is relevant. The free material is complete on its own: nothing useful is held back from a guide to push a sale.
